Our History

The Redland Pentecostal Holiness Church was organized on January 21, 1945 as a result of a tent meeting held on Redland Road in late 1944. Prior to having a church building, the 10 charter members worshipped in a brush arbor during the summer months and in different homes throughout the winter. One acre of land off Highway 158 facing Baltimore Road was purchased in October 1945 and construction began the same year. The congregation moved into the completed sanctuary on the first Sunday in May, 1948. To this date, Homecoming services are held on the first Sunday in May.

Our Doctrine

We believe in the one true God, existing in three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

We believe that Jesus Christ through the mystery of the incarnation was the sinless, virgin-born Son of God: that two whole and perfect natures-God and man-were joined together in one person; and that His life and death, resurrection and ascension were accomplished for the purpose of providing redemption to all who will believe on His name.

We believe that the Holy Spirit has always been and will always be the agent in applying the benefits of God’s grace in the heart of man. Sin did two things to man. It alienated him from God and put in his heart enmity toward God. The needed double-cure of salvation and sanctification is provided through the Gospel, and applied to the heart by the Holy Spirit.

We believe that through faith in Christ there is salvation from the guilt and curse of sin, and that without this salvation man is eternally lost. Through the experience of regeneration or the “new Birth” the penitent sinner is born into the family of God.

We believe that sanctification involves both a crisis and a process. The crisis experience is one in which Christian motivation is brought into complete harmony with the will of God. Wesley called this experience “perfect love.” The sanctified life is a process of growth and maturity and is enjoyed to its fullest extent as we live in daily surrender and consecration to Christ.

We believe that the experience of the Pentecostal baptism of the Holy Spirit is obtainable by a definite act of appropriating faith on the part of the fully cleansed believer.

We believe that the atonement of Christ provides healing for the physical body. While we are thankful for medical science and for skilled physicians, and while we recognize the law of recovery that is built into the body, we believe that divine healing is above and beyond these. Divine healing is a recovery wrought by a miraculous intervention into the normal function of the human body, accomplished by Jesus Christ in answer to the believer’s prayer of faith.

We believe that water baptism is an outward testimony to an inward work of grace already accomplished in the heart of the believer. We practice immersion, however; candidates are permitted the right of choice between other modes of baptism (sprinkling or pouring). Baptism is administered according to Christ’s command, “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.”

We practice the Lord’s Supper as a sacrament of our redemption by Christ’s death. The Lord’s Supper points us back to Calvary and forward to Christ’s coming again. Participation in this ordinance is not limited to only our members. The Lord’s table is open to all God’s children and in our church they are all invited to commemorate together the death of their Lord.

We believe it is the responsibility of every believer to dedicate his life to carry out the work of the Great Commission. Before our Lord ascended to heaven, He told His followers, “Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature” (Mark 16:15). That was Jesus last order while He was physically on earth. And we believe it’s the duty of every person in the Pentecostal Holiness Church, in his own unique way to play his part in fulfilling that GREAT COMMAND in this generation!

We believe that the personal, pre-millennial Second Coming of Christ to the earth could occur at any moment. There will be two stages of this second coming: The first for the purpose of resurrecting the righteous dead and catching them away with the living saints who are prepared of the Rapture before the great tribulation period; and the second when He shall come back with His saints to destroy the armies of the Antichrist and to inaugurate His reign of one thousand years of peace. During this time Satan will be bound in the bottomless pit. After the millennium he will be loosed for a little season. He will make one last desperate attempt to overthrow the kingdom of Christ. But he will fail. The people who have followed him in rebellion, together with the resurrected wicked dead will be condemned at the great “White Throne” judgment and will be cast, with Satan, into the lake of fire that burns forever and ever. After that scene of judgment upon the unrighteous, those who have put all their hope and faith in Christ will share with Him the renewed heaven and earth through all the endless ages.
